Independence on the coast

A new home care program aimed at promoting independence has been launched on the NSW far north coast.

The Whiddon Group’s Home Independence Program is designed to provide tailored care that gives clients the skills to maintain their independence.

With more than 86,000 people over 65 living in the region, The Whiddon Group’s Director of Community Services, John Ashby said the new program is a necessary and valuable service for the region.

“We understand that older people generally want to prevent, or at the very least delay, entry to a nursing home or retirement village and are much happier, healthier, and more connected to their communities when they continue to live in their own home,” said John.

The program has received strong demand and acceptance in other areas of NSW, including the Newcastle and Hunter region where it was launched late last year.
