Work is now underway on Opal Aged Care’s $41 million, 149-bed aged care facility in Blacktown.

It’s one of eight new centres to be built as part of Opal’s $300 million investment in Western Sydney.

Opal Blacktown will provide 108 single rooms, 12 companion rooms and a specialist memory support unit with 17 single rooms, all ensuite.

The home is positioned to provide residents easy access to the nearby Blacktown Hospital and the CBD.

Opal Bankstown is due to open in mid-2018 alongside the organisation’s other projects starting in Toongabbie, Winston Hills, Penrith, Wentworthville and Cabramatta.

Construction starts on Stockland Somerton

Work is underway on Stockland’s $11 million expansion of its Somerton Park Seniors Living Community in South Australia.

The extension will add 35 new two or three bedroom homes. Construction is expected to be complete by March 2018.

The start of construction at Somerton Park follows the acquisition of eight South Australian retirement villages from Masonic Homes in June 2015.

Somerton Park is home to over 210 residents and provides a wide range of accommodation options including serviced apartments, independent living apartments and villas.

A $27 million expansion of Lightsview Retirement Village in Northgate is also underway, with 33 new homes and a new clubhouse added.

Stockland now owns and operates 65 retirement Living villages across Australia.

Next phase of Aveo’s Newcastle development

Aveo Group has brought forward the second stage of its $220 million Newcastle development after strong interest in the initial stage.

The first phase of Aveo Newcastle, comprising 50 two-bedroom independent living units, is due for completion in July.

The second stage delivers a further 45 units, subject to approval.

The development includes a new clubhouse, community centre with health and wellbeing facilities, resident function rooms, lounge areas and a gym.

Work underway at Regency Park Retirement Village’s new clubhouse

Churches of Christ Care is undertaking several projects on its Warwick Campus in the Darling Downs that will increase capacity and enhance services.

Work is underway on a new 128-bed aged care service and community centre.

The residential facility will accommodate seniors in a series of themed cottage-style one and two storey buildings. The community centre will be available for local community groups and Warwick Campus residents.

Construction has also started on a new clubhouse at the Regency Park Retirement Village, providing a place for residents to socialise and engage in activities.
