Continence carer of the year

Lynne Stone has been recognised as the CFA’s Carer of the Year after supporting her husband John for 17 years.

The Continence Foundation of Australia’s annual Carer of The Year Award has been presented to Lynne Stone of NSW.

Until his death earlier this year, Lynne cared for her husband John who had a range of health challenges resulting form multiple strokes.

Every day for 17 years, Lynne attended to John’s needs with limited financial support after giving up full-time work.

Lynne was nominated for the award by continence nurses Rhonda Brownlow and Vicki Patton at St George Public Hospital in Sydney.

They said Lynne’s bright personality and sense of humour carried her through what others might have viewed as a negative experience.
